Course Catalog Description:

Grade: 11
Prerequisite: Foundations of Technology recommended
Credits: 1
During the first year of the program, students will be introduced to various career fields in manufacturing and engineering. Emphasis will be placed on the major systems in automated manufacturing, including: design, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing processes, material handling, and quality control. Students will participate in teams, in a modular classroom setting, to produce manufacturing projects that demonstrate critical elements of manufacturing and develop critical thinking skills.

Admission Requirements:

The IEST program at Gar-Field is an interest based program. To obtain success in IEST one must have a strong work ethic. At Gar-Field, we are seeking highly motivated young men and women to become engineers.

Current Prince William County Students

Applications must be submitted before February 15th, the school year before you would like to start participating in the IEST program. If you think you might be interested in taking IEST courses, apply before the February 15th deadline so you are in a eligible for IEST courses in the upcoming year.

New Prince William County Students
(60 days from the date of enrollment)

Base school and transfer students who move into Prince William County may apply to the program within 60 days of registering to attend Prince William County Schools. The February 15th deadline does not apply to new PWCS students.
